Carter Waddell is a Senior Vice President – Relationship Manager in Commercial Banking with Bank of America, N. A. covering the metropolitan Washington, DC market. As a Senior Relationship Manager, Carter is the primary Commercial Banking advisor to the client in strategic and financial matters. He leads the Bank of America Commercial Banking relationship team in the delivery of commercial banking products and services appropriate to each client’s needs. Carter has over 30 years of experience serving as a trusted advisor to commercial and corporate banking clients in the Greater DC area. Carter has developed an expertise in providing comprehensive commercial banking support to not-for-profit / trade associations, law firms, accounting firms, consulting firms, technology companies, manufacturers, distributors, and U.S. and foreign multinational corporations.Prior to joining Bank of America, Carter held senior banking positions with Citibank, Chase Bank, and SunTrust Bank (now Truist). Carter spent 20 years with SunTrust in a variety of different senior corporate banking positions, culminating in serving as the General Manager of the International Division. Before joining SunTrust, Carter began his banking career at Sovran Bank in Virginia (now Bank of America) in commercial banking. Over his career, Carter also developed an expertise in corporate / commercial banking support of global treasury management, foreign exchange, international trade finance and international correspondent banking.
Carter is a Virginia native and currently resides in Washington, DC. He is active in the community and currently serves on the board of directors of the Virginia – DC District Export Council, the Mid-Atlantic OCD Corporation and is an active member of Leadership Arlington (class of 2018). Over the years, Carter served on the board of directors or executive committee for numerous local / national organizations such as the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Virginia International Business Council, the Asia Society of Washington, DC, the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council, the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade, the World Trade Center in Atlanta, the Japan Society of Georgia, the Arizona Chapter of the British American Business Council (BABC), and the International OCD Foundation. Hobbies include watching baseball and traveling abroad with his family. Carter is also a "retired" rugby player.
Carter earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a BA in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College. In addition, Carter earned certificates from the University of Colorado, American Bankers Association School for International Banking; and completed two certificate programs from the Center for International Banking Studies at the University of Virginia, Colgate Darden Graduate School.
